Plastic surgery and other thoughts swirling through my brain as a child.

‎11.11.11 With this upcoming show I am sharing some of my childhood before and after drawings I was working on in 1985 while on a road trip from PA to CA. I was 9 years old and have often wondered what I saw that gave me this idea about plastic surgery. I have mixed feelings about the subject. On one side I feel it is such an amazing science. The other side is questionable, how some people go so far that their face can no longer smile or show emotion. My recreation of my childhood drawing deals more with how we can see ourselves in the mirror as distorted even though we are beautiful how we are.

Fingerpaints, crayons, chalk and color pencils. We were all budding artists in childhood, and we had the freedom to create every mystical creature and dream we envisioned. The early years were full of drawings that were hung in the kitchen gallery, where everything we made was welcome and immediately sold into the hearts of our loved ones. Guest curated by Christina ConwayHomeroom attempts to rediscover the nostalgia of youth and innocent creativity. Each artist for this exhibition found a piece from their childhood and reinterpreted it in their current style. Join us this November, and see the results.

Circus Circus!

Circus! Circus! I just sent this painting to Los Angeles to be in the Hive Gallery's Circus show. Opening June 4th. This idea came from being a model in my artist friend Shayna Yates fashion show. I love her work and she was gracious enough to let me paint about the evening in a circus manner. Thank you to everyone in the painting for being supportive and letting me put you in the picture. It was 'An Unordinary Nite'! Check out her artwork at unordinary.orgwww.unordinary.org

My piece for Japan

My heart goes out to the Japanese people.
I wish them good health, luck and longevity. In Japanese folklore the crane lives for a 1,000 years and the turtle for 10,000 years. Zen Buddhist priest Eisai wrote "Tea is the ultimate mental and medical remedy and has the ability to make ones life more full and complete." A Japanese tea ceremony is to prepare a bowl of tea from the heart.

To bid on this 5" x 3" piece for Japan relief please go to this ebay page. Thank you to the person that has already bid on it!

Artists Help Japan

My friend Christina Conway has put together a ebay art auction to help raise funds for Japan. This is a bit about what was created. Here is a link to the art auction page. http://shop.ebay.com/puck.rye/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25

Ema Art Auction for Artists Help Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Fund - Give2Asia

100% of Proceeds to Benefit

Give2Asia

Earthquake &Tsunami 2011 Fund
Ema are traditional small Japanese wooden tablets left at shrines with an image on one side, and a wish or a prayer on the other. To help Japan relief efforts, spread awareness, support and hope, artists are creating ema with their own positive heartfelt imagery for auction to benefit Artists Help Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund at Give2Asia.
Taking inspiration from these simple, traditional and specifically Japanese gestures of wish-making/prayers this auction allows everyone of any culture, religious background and dynamics a similar talisman, using the "if you will it, it will be" thought belief. A small work of art for a big cause.

The back side has been left blank for its new owner to write his or her own wishes or prayers.
