"Alienation"

A group show featuring alien art.

Wonka Gallery and Zepf Alt. Gallery join forces to bring you an armada of local artists inspired by the extraterrestrial. A radio signal was sent out to artists all over San Diego. Over 30 of them replied to the transmission, accepting the task of creating a piece of art celebrating the alien life form.
The show runs 2 nights only, the mother ship will arrive on
Saturday, April 14th, for the opening reception from 5-10 pm.
The countdown to departure will begin on Saturday, April 28th, from 5-10pm.

The Zepf Alt. Gallery is located in the top secret basement under the Yoga studio at
1150 Seventh Ave, Downtown San Diego.

Cougar Country

Shonn and I traveled to Lake Cuyamaca this weekend. We had a blast and it was great to get out of the city for awhile. We felt like we were in a Twin Peaks movie. These are some photos from the day and the sketch I did while we were sitting by the lake.

That was delicious apple cider.

Never turn your back on a cougar!

Ivy progress

Today I spent the day in the studio working on detailing the ivy.
As I was riding my bike home I started to see ivy crawling everywhere.

Two pieces currently on my easel

I have been obsessed with painting ivy lately. When I was back in Pennsylvania last September, I noticed the ivy overtaking a lot of man made things. I couldn't help but be inspired by what nature does if let go. It is quite beautiful.  These are two of my works in progress for a series I am working on.

Experimenting

My friend Marilyn is helping me bring to fruition an idea that has been stewing in the back of my mind for a few years now. She has an amazing studio high up on a hill in San Diego that has a view of the historic El Cortez building. I had a wonderful day hanging out with her and experimenting with new materials to find a way to achieve my ideas. She creates beautifully minimal and obsessive jewelry entitled Meander. Please visit her work here. Thank you Marilyn!

Shonn had taken this video while we were at the opening of "Everything but the Kitsch n' Sync" group show in 2010. We just put it together and posted it. My pastels are amongst a sea of people.
